Even though my mum never made this when I was a kid, this cake just seems like a typical homey cake that you would sit down and enjoy after dinner, whilst curled up on the sofa in front of the TV and fire. Or possibly one you would find at a little village fete cake sale in the Summer (I don’t know, I live in a city!).
